This was produced for a 'requiem of a cipher' my second solo exhibition at Gordart Gallery, this show was the first show and body of work where the muse lead inspired works came to the fore. For the is show the muse was a physical person, someone with whom I had a very complicated relationship. Having been raised in an Afrikaanse community with all the cultural guidelines within the culture I guess the Calvinistic idea of working hard to gain happiness was a driving force behind creating slightly obsessive love letters to entrap the intended recipient in a web of words. - Stephan Erasmus
