Study 4 (Not the Moon)

Forming part of the Vestige (2014) series, we see that De Wet explores the use of line and fragmentation is this work. The artist starts moving towards a more abstract composition, leaving behind the figurative explorations he has been engaging with up to this point. He decides to incorporate the black circle, a strong but successful choice, highly symbolic and representational, a strong presence indeed. This compositional component will be an apparent shape within some of his future works.
