In the Stars, A Love Letter for Her

In the stars.. was an installation created for a two-person show with Shara Lisa Yalatove, the installation functioned as an extension of 'Die middernag son' Show. The muse driving this body of work was mainly driven by the idea of Nut (Egyptian goddess). Nut for me symbolized the idea of the dark creative energy that is generally ascribed to a selection of goddesses, another figure that comes to mind strongly is Kali a goddess that destroys but is also a mother figure. There is always some reference to what is happening in my personal life and generally a link to a song (generally a sorrowful love song). This work became a love letter to a situation where I found myself in and started exploring the idea of the dark creative feminine energy that is generally ascribed to goddesses. - Stephan Erasmus
