Drukkende Stilte

This poem translates to "Forced Silence"

It projects to an unknown party "jy". In the artist's practice it is implied that the unknown party is the patriarch or the patriarchal system.

The artist confronts the viewer as confronting the patriarchal system.

She refrains powerful words in relevance to anger and violence through the idea of something boiling and exploding,"borrel" "bars”, over again. This expands the anger she feels towards the patriarch. Stating that the patriarchal system acts in violence when challenged or differs from opinion.

She questions if challenging the patriarch is a good idea, for she knows what is at stake and that she might loose. But she is still willing to fight for her voice even if it is Like throwing oil onto fire.

She starts to enjoy how the patriarch is boiling with anger because she realized that the other party only reacts in anger because they know they can be defeated through her voice
