Dependence (Abjection 1 of 8)

The three-resin vertebra embodies the support I receive from my parents and partner. I have mixed feelings of sadness and guilt about my dependence on my parents and loved ones. Whether it is financial, support when I’m ill, help with everyday tasks, motivation to give my best in difficult situations or the inevitable kidney or blood, I have feelings of hopelessness because of my dependence on others. The dried fynbos flowers embody my burr-shaped blood cells representing my dependence on blood.
