Blade II

Within Del Toro's career, Blade II  is a mere stepping stone towards Hellboy, a path onto which del Toro was coerced by his agent. Still, the director states that he sees himself as a collector, in his career he does not make single films but rather a collective whole. He developed the new race of vampires within the film further exploring concepts from Cronos and eventually using these ideas in a series of post apocalyptic books. 

When viewing the film within the context of other concepts in previous films,  the focus on evolution and the next generation is evident. It is also difficult to miss scenes such as the one above, which are so reminiscent of Cronos.
