Archival LP 04/05 II

Tristin Roland is a South African born multimedia artist, currently in his third year of studying Fine Arts at the University of Pretoria. Born of an immigrant mother from Scotland, his influences are drawn from European and African roots. Having lived in Ireland, his practice is influenced by various cultures and the distinct geographical locations that hold significance within his life. Focusing largely on identity politics through the use of satire, his works draw immensely from his experiences growing up. His works tackle serious issues and engage with rather controversial discourses, this is then juxtaposed with the twisted sense of humour Roland conveys through his works.

Roland was part of the top 100 artists at the 2019 Thami Mnyele Fine Arts Awards, and in 2020 was selected as part of the top 10 finalists for the UJ Emerging Artists Programme.
