Viola is a ceramicist who recites her personal stories on clay objects. According to her, “clay is a humble medium that can be transformed and recycled”. Working with ideas of unsettling journeys and liminal space, the notion of hardly touching base for long enough to feel at home greatly influences her personal practice.

The Design Indaba is an annual event that invites national and international speakers to share their expertise and to inspire people with design and innovation possibilities. This year, Nhlanhla Mahlangu a preforming artist, Lidewij Edelkoort a trend predictor, Ibrahim Mahama an artist, Hanif Kara a Professor in Practice Architectural Technology are amongst the invited speakers. The three-day programme is hosted from the 26-28 February 2020 and includes keynote addresses, a conference, music, film and exhibitions.
